A Guide to Compacting: Softness, Shrinkage and Yield Control

Why compacting is the final quality gate in knit finishing — and how open-width, felt and tubular lines each change the hand feel.

Compacting is the final stage before a knit fabric is deemed export-ready. It is where hand feel, shrinkage and yield are locked in.

Our compacting floor combines three technologies: TubeTex C-2500 open-width lines, felt lines from Sintex and Sperotto Rimar, and the Navis TubeTex tubular compactor.

Each technology changes the surface and dimensions of the fabric differently:

• Open-width compacting suits outerwear and apparel knits, delivering up to 25% compaction with superior width control.
• Felt compacting uses endless needled felt to give the best hand feel of any process.
• Tubular compacting keeps fabric in tubular form for maximum dimensional stability.

Ask us which line fits your fabric programme — we are happy to run a trial.
